The Livingston Parish Library loves our teachers, and we want to support you all throughout the school year! Our experienced and knowledgeable staff can help with many requests inside and outside our library branches using our school resources. This is your starting point to discovering how the library can help you enrich your classroom in a variety of ways

 

Educator Card

Did you know the Livingston Parish Library offers special Educator cards for our teachers? Educator library cards allow Livingston Parish teachers to check out more items for longer durations, ensuring they can meet the needs of their entire classroom!

With an Educator card, you can:

  • Check out up to 80 items at a time
  • Check out items for six (6) weeks
  • Renew items once for another six (6) weeks

Who qualifies 

Any educator in Livingston Parish qualifies for an Educator card. This includes:

  • Teachers
  • Principals
  • School librarians
  • Teacher’s aides
  • Homeschool teachers

Requirements 

Requirements for an Educator library card are as follows:  

  • Individuals must present proof of employment (i.e. check stub or I.D.) at a school within Livingston Parish
  • Parents who homeschool children must present their approved Home Study application, approved by the State of Louisiana

Applying for an Educator card

To apply for an educator library card, speak to our front desk staff at your preferred branch. Please bring proof of employment as an educator.

Facility Use Card

Your school can apply for a Facility Use card!

What does this card 

With a Facility Use card, your school can:

  • Check out a maximum of 50 books for up to two (2) months
  • Create your own collection for projects
  • Expand your school’s book selection

Our Outreach Department is ready to visit your classroom or school! Staff are available for: 

  • Class visits and presentations
  • Assembly programs
  • Math/literacy nights
  • Storytime
  • Book talks
  • Summer Reading Program
  • Puppet shows
  • Parent night
  • Technology workshops

Have a little extra time on field trip day? Schedule the Livingston Parish Library as part of your agenda!

Your students will have the opportunity to learn all about the Library while having fun. We’ll take students on a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities, introduce them to our high-quality services and resources, and talk about how they can get a library card. We can also present a storytime or puppet show for younger audiences.
