Louisiana is blessed with so much natural beauty, and you can explore it all through the Check Out Louisiana: Parks program. This program allows patrons in participating library systems to check out a day pass for any state park or historic site, as well as other supplies, at no cost.

So whether you want to go on a hike, enjoy a peaceful picnic, or simply soak in the sunshine, there’s no better way to celebrate spring and learn why Louisiana is called Sportsman’s Paradise than by exploring our amazing state parks!

Who can check out a pass through Check Out Louisiana: Parks program?

State park and/or historic site passes are available to the following Livingston Parish Library card types: Adult, Educator, and Senior Citizen.


How can I check out a pass?

State park and/or historic site passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and they must be picked up in-person at one of the five Livingston Parish Library branches.


What does this pass allow?

This pass permits one vehicle and its passengers to enter the park. However, it does not provide access to cabins, campgrounds, or other programs while at the park. The pass is not valid for overnight stays.


Are there restrictions?

Yes, the State Library has implemented the following restrictions:

  • A patron or family may only check out a pass out once every six months.
  • No holds are allowed on passes, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
